The three Manhattan shops are the collaborative love of Corinne and Nadine
~ the original Purdy girls!
The inspiration for Purdy Girl stems from Nadine’s Soho boutique experience and Corrine’s time spent in France. After studying Fine Art in Paris, one particularly memorable Issey Miyake fashion show sent Corrine running home to create her very own designs. She decided to feed her creative energy into designing clothing and bringing the trends of Paris to the streets of New York…literally! She successfully sold her wares and accessories street side, along with the many ultra hip and trendy Soho artisans.
Meanwhile, Nadine’s Soho boutique, Yoshi, was booming--becoming a promoter of New York’s young talent and a major importer of leading European designers, well before Madison Avenue invaded downtown Manhattan.
Although the two sisters came from very different business backgrounds, they truly saw eye-to-eye when it came to all things fashion. It was only natural that they should combine forces to create Purdy Girl, opening its’ Thompson Street doors in the spring of 1997.
Just around the corner from the original boutique, a second shop was opened on LaGuardia Place, carrying a more sophisticated look. Our newest shop, bringing downtown uptown, is located on the upper west side. All three boutiques burst with color and texture, the energy literally exploding onto the street! The Purdy Girl label, created at their in-house studio, hang alongside designs from Nanette Lepore, TIBI, Trina Turk, Maria Bianca Nero, and more.
Nadine says they “really strive to take high end designer trends and make them very accessible for each and every woman, providing both the chic styles of the moment and long-lasting looks.”
And according to Corrine, “Whether you’re a student, a fashionista, or a Wall Street professional, we have the absolute perfect look for you. We feel that Purdy Girl is a one-stop-shop for every woman. From the flirty shoes and girly bags to the perfect outfit for any occasion.”
And she does mean any occasion! Purdy Girl has outfitted women heading to the Emmys, proms, Manhattan clubs, and grocery stores alike. Every fabulous look is inside just waiting to be worn by an equally fabulous woman
